' Twice Nightly ' - Film Screenplay

From Autumn 2026 I will be writing a Screenplay about Variety Theatre                                                       and my childhood 'backstage world' as  I toured  all over Britain with my father

Comedian and Entertainer Stan Stennett MBE

The Film is set in South Wales in 1959

This was a 'watershed' year for Variety Theatre in the face of the new entertainment of Television

In 'Twice Nightly' we see performers like my father, Morecambe and Wise, Bruce Forsythe, Lonnie Donegan and Shirley Bassey in the early stages of their careers, alongside fictional characters representing the 'menagerie' of performing  talent that Variety represented.

Animal Acts. Sword Swallowers. Jugglers. Acrobats. Sand Dancers. Ventriloquists.  Male and Female Singers.

And, of course, scantily-clad glamorous tableaus

This feels like my own Welsh 'Cinema Paradiso'

 There is a 10 year old co-protagonist .

His innocent Point of View observes all the theatrical eccentricities

This is a very personal subject and one that I feel uniquely qualified to write.

I am a  Dramatist and Screenwriter

And I was actually THERE.
