Roger Stennett 

 

Theatre Playwright, BBC Radio Dramatist, Animation Writer,  Film Screenwriter, Poet and Workshop Leader

 

Writing Tutor/Mentor, to Postgraduate level, at Universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester and Bristol

 

                                      Born in Cardiff, My childhood was largely lived ''backstage'  in Variety Theatres, as I toured with my father                         

Comedian and Jazz Guitarist. Stan Stennett MBE, who went on to spend 70 years in Showbusiness.

 

1969-72.  I was an Undergraduate at Christ's College, Cambridge where I read History.  BA 1972 / MA 1976

 

I gained my sporting 'Cambridge Blue' in each of my years, as well as being an International Athlete.

 

Later I became Black Belt and Instructor in the Japanese Martial Art of Aikido

 

After graduating I worked in  Arts Administration in the South West of England

I helped to develop and fund a variety of arts policies and initiatives in the region.

 

In 1984, when I was Director I chose to leave South West Arts to become a full time freelance writer.

 

That is the career I have pursued to the present day, with the addition of gaining further qualifications 

in Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy and seeing a range of clients in two Health Practices.

 

I was also a Clinical Supervisor, mentoring  other therapists, and Counsellor to NHS Hospital Doctors.
